Aquatic Macrophytes found in Teluk Pelanduk, Port Dickson.

Teluk Pelanduk is known for its wide diversity of seagrass and seaweed which can only be seen during low tide. This underwater forest stays hidden during hide tides making them completely unnoticeable.

Here are some of the aquatic macrophytes found during low tide as we had only a few hours before high tide comes in.

top: Gracillaria sp.
mid: Dictyota dichotoma
bottom: mixed species Gracilaria sp.

needle like leaves: Halodule pinifolia
fan shaped green algae: Udotea sp.

Teluk Pelanduk during low tide. It is observed that Halodule pinifolia is abundance in this area,

Very few Halophila ovalis which is identified by its round leaves while the area is densed with Halodule pinifolia.
Other species could also be found which is the largest sea grass Enhalus acroides, Cymodocea rotundata and Thalassia hemprichii. Some seaweed species found here is Padina minor, Sargassum sp. , Amphiroa fragilisima and Gracilaria sp. These samples was observe during March 2015.
As Teluk Pelanduk is a small port and resting area for fishermen, its aquatic macrophytes thrive hidden under the tides.
